2004 2004NSS drama group participated in the Moomba Parade, dressed as monarchies to celebrate the annual event.
2002 2002NSS establishes itself on its new premises at Union Street, Northcote.
1999 1999The First Preston Swimming Carnival commenced, celebrating 5 years of success between NPHHA, Reservoir Leisure Centre and most importantly, the swimmers.
1995 1995The Studio establised a new concept called 'ZartArt', whereby local artists accessed the studio, its resources and ideas in exchange for skill development.
1993 1993Friends of Ozone achieved the Banksia Environmental Award and The Down to Earth/Plant Newspaper Environment Award.
1991 1991Community Access and Work Education program is introduced to help further develop participants skills.
1986 1986A Debutante Ball is held at Preston Town Hall, successfully bringing together members of parliament, local government, parents, participants and staff.
1981 1981A house in James Street, Northcote is purchased and opened as residential accommodation to be used as respite care.
1977 1977A highly successful celebration is arranged to mark 21 years of service by the Centre, with over 150 participants involved.
1972 1972Our third building is opened by Minister of Health, the Hon John Rossiter as the Northcote Preston Branch Helping Hand Association Day Training Centre for Handicapped.
1966 1966Northcote Rotary undertook the making of a film of the centre, premiering on October 4th 1966.
1961 1961The Senior Annex was renamed to 'George and Rose Henderson House' in tribute for their work carried out over the years.
1956 1956His Excellency Sir Dallas Brooks, Governor General of Victoria officially opens the Children with Disbability School in Ethel Street.
1954 1954Official Central Council was formed to coordinate efforts being made by various day training centres and to act as a voice towards the Government.
1952 1952Helping Hand Association expands their services through Northcote and Preston to the Dispensary Hall in Gooch Street, Thornbury.
1947 1947Northern Support Services (NSS) first opened its doors under the name Northcote Preston Helping Hand Association.
2016 2016The NDIS is rolled out in the northern Melbourne metropolitan region.
2014 2014The Wurundjeri people held a Welcome to Country Ceremony at NSS.
2004 2004NSS began the tradition of printing Christmas cards made by its participants to give to their family and friends.
2003 2003NSS becomes a registered training organisation (RTO).
2001 2001Northern Preston Helping Hand Association is renamed Northern Support Services (NSS) under a new Board of Management.
1998 1998Jennifer Williams is awarded the “Silver Award” for her ongoing commitment to the centre for over 15 years.
1994 1994New site established for people between the ages of 40 - 58 at 179 High Street Northcote.
1992 1992Friends of Ozone is officially opened, which produces chemical free household goods by participants. This year saw them win The Family Circle Green Award.
1990 1990The organisation becomes 'Helping Hand Association for Intellectually Disabled - Northcote Preston Branch'.
1982 1982The sign language program 'Makaton' is introduced to broaden individual learning needs for our participants.
1979 1979George Henderson announces his resignation from Board of Management. A dinner dance is held in his honour.
1973 1973George Henderson's wonderful work is recognised when he is awarded an MBE in the New Years honors list, the first ever awarded for work in this field.
1970 1970Plans were produced for a proposed new brick building and a two storied extension of the Henderson House Workshop.
1966 1966Henderson House is extended and furnished to celebrate the organisation's 10th Anniversary.
1958 1958The inaugural 'Mental Health Week' took place in September 1958. Collection boxes were distributed and the collection results were significant.
1955 1955A large grant is awarded to help build a new school in Northcote for children with disabilities. Teachers salaries were also backdated to July 1954.
1953 1953The Red Cross provides transport for participants from their homes to placement in Thornbury.
1947 1947Mr. Prince appointed the inaugural President of Northcote Preston Branch of the Helping Hand Association
