Meet our feature artist: Dianne
In each issue of News Circle, we feature a piece of artwork from The Studio – our artist space at Union Street. This month we’ve interviewed our feature artist, Dianne. Her favourite things to do in the studio are to draw and paint.
“I have painted with acrylic, watercolour and ink and gouache. Lately, I have enjoyed making bookmarks with the craft group.
“I like to get inspiration from fairytales and fashion magazines. Women of all shapes and sizes in glamorous dresses – I really enjoy fashion and cute animals!”
Dianne says she’s had a love of art her whole life and has been involved in The Studio program at NSS for a long time.
“Since I was young, I have always been interested in crafts. I’ve been involved in The Studio program since the late 1980s! I’ve learned skills from the community integration program, experimenting in textiles, printmaking and pottery – developing my own style and sharing my skills with others.
“I feel super proud and excited when I work on a piece of art that is going really well. I work full time in the studio so making art is my main interest at NSS. After so many years of artmaking, I have a really recognisable style now and I feel confident.”
